Alexander Shorokhoff’s Kandy Fantasy Turns Imagination Into Wearable Art

Founded in 2003 in Alzenau, Germany, Alexander Shorokhoff is renowned for its art-driven timepieces that combine meticulous hand-finished craftsmanship with bold, culturally inspired design. This year, the brand introduces the Kandy Fantasy, a limited-edition creation that captures its unrestrained imagination and avant-garde spirit.

A bold expression of artistic freedom and independent watchmaking, the Kandy Fantasy embodies founder Alexander Shorokhov’s philosophy: those who set limits for themselves will never have the courage to imagine. True to this spirit, the timepiece brings together vibrant colours, unconventional geometry, and refined mechanical craftsmanship in a design that is unmistakably avant-garde.

The dial features a striking black-and-white central motif accented with genuine mother-of-pearl appliqués, alongside a date display at 6 o’clock, also inlaid with mother-of-pearl for a playful touch. Elongated hands with coloured circular cut-outs and deliberately offset numerals reinforce its imaginative, rule-breaking character. Housed in a rectangular stainless-steel case, the watch is powered by a Swiss automatic movement (ETA 2892 / SW300) with a hand-engraved rotor and approximately 42 hours of power reserve.

Limited to just 30 pieces worldwide, the Kandy Fantasy is a wearable work of art designed for collectors and individuals who value creativity without compromise.

The Kandy Fantasy will be available at Red Army Watches boutiques at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and 1 Utama Shopping Centre, as well as online at www.redarmywatches.com.my

His latest exhibition, inspired by the majesty of Khmer royalty and the distinguished colour palette of the Raffles Royal Doorman, features vivid, brilliant hues often set against a stark backdrop. “The central concept revives the historical tradition of Khmer royalty, specifically focussing on the Royal Guards’ pantaloons. Historically, the colour of a king’s attire would change to correspond with the day of the week—a vibrant, visual reminder of the calendar and its spiritual significance,” said curator Nat Di Maggio of the local Tribe Art Gallery.
