Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Hands-On: The Foldable We've Been Waiting For

After just a few days with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, one thing is already clear: this is the most complete, confident foldable Samsung has ever built. The Fold 7 takes a bold leap forward—finally delivering on the vision that the Galaxy Fold promised years ago.

Design

Let’s start with the most immediate difference: the hardware. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is thinner, lighter, and more comfortable than any foldable before it. Samsung’s redesigned hinge is slimmer and sturdier, while the reduced weight (215g) makes the Fold 7 shockingly easy to pocket. It’s so light, and so impressive that I am loving it every moment I am using. The ULTRA SLEEK DESIGN is something worth to look on!

DISPLAY

The Fold 7’s 6.5-inch cover display gets a subtle but important update: a more natural aspect ratio that is a wow and big improvements. When its open up, the display is impressive and comes with vivid colours, with the 120Hz refresh rate. Now brighter and smoother than ever, with vivid colours and a 120Hz refresh rate, it continues to set the bar for immersive mobile multitasking.

Performance and Galaxy AI: Seriously Smooth

Under the hood, the Fold 7 runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, paired with One UI 8 and the newest Galaxy AI features. Multitasking is fluid, app launches are instant, playing games, video editing and everything is just instant. AI-powered tasks like summarisation, live translation, and photo editing are noticeably faster and more accurate, thanks to onboard processing.

Battery: Holding Steady, So Far

Despite slimming down the chassis, Samsung retained the 4,400mAh battery, and early signs are positive. The battery is impressive where I can use the phone for the whole day.

Camera: A Serious Upgrade at Last

The Fold 7 finally earns its flagship status in the camera department. With the 200MP sensor lifted from the Galaxy S25 Ultra, this is the most powerful imaging system ever put into a Galaxy Fold. Photos are impressively detailed, colours are richer, and low-light shots show significant improvement. Samsung’s processing still leans toward contrast and saturation, but the leap in clarity and consistency is undeniable.

With the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Samsung has done what many thought impossible: create a foldable that finally feels finished. It’s not just a showcase of what's possible—it’s a compelling, polished product that delivers where it matters: comfort, usability, performance, and camera.  Whether you're upgrading from an older Fold or entering the foldable scene for the first time, this is the one to get.

Comes in 4 colours which are Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow, Jet Black and Mint. Price from RM 7.799.00 onwards
