Raffles Cambodia Wins Top Honours at Travel + Leisure Luxury Awards

Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor was named Cambodia’s best city hotel and Raffles Hotel Le Royal’s General Manager Dagmar Lyons was hailed as the country’s best GM by leading international travel authority Travel + Leisure.

The honours were presented at a ceremony for the Travel + Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific 2025 held on June 18 in Bangkok. Raffles Hotel Le Royal, which opened in 1929 in the capital, Phnom Penh, was also honoured as one of Cambodia’ top city hotels and both Raffles hotels in Cambodia were recognized for having some of the country’s best swimming pools.

The industry-leading travel magazine’s prestigious annual Luxury Awards spotlight the very best in the region’s hospitality, from top city, beach, island and upcountry hotels to hotel pools, spas and general managers.

Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor, open since 1932 and situated on the doorstep of ancient Khmer archeological sites, was praised by the editors of Travel + Leisure as “a timeless gem in the heart of Siem Reap,” saying it “ticks all the boxes for charm, history and indulgence.”

“Home to elegant old-world architecture, lush tropical gardens and the country’s largest pool, every last detail oozes sophistication,” the magazine’s editors wrote, adding that a stay at the hotel is “more than a getaway – it’s a pampered, nostalgic step back in time.”

Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor’s spa was also recognized as one of Cambodia’s best.

“We are delighted to be recognized in three categories – for best city hotel, best hotel swimming pool and best hotel spa – and our entire team will use it as motivation to further enhance our guest experience,” Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor General Manager Joseph Colina said.

The magazine also praised Raffles Hotel Le Royal’s leadership, saying “Dagmar Lyons has clinched the title of Best GM in impressive time, thanks to her warm charm and unparalleled attention to detail.”

“In a globe-trotting resume that spans from Vancouver to Shanghai, she’s brought expertise to every hotel she’s touched – and since 2024, she’s been working her magic at Raffles Hotel Le Royal,” Travel + Leisure added.

In 2024, Raffles Hotel Le Royal took the No. 1 city hotel spot in the awards, underscoring Raffles’ leading position in Cambodia’s luxury hospitality market. Both Raffles hotels in Cambodia are historic landmarks featuring beautifully refined rooms and suites that blend old-world charm with Cambodian influences and contemporary detail.
