Casio Celebrates 50 Years of Watchmaking with Second Brand-Spanning Collection

In commemorating its golden jubilee in the timepiece industry, Casio Computer Co., Ltd. has unveiled the “Zero to One” collection, featuring five special-edition watches. These timepieces span Casio’s most iconic brands—CASIOTRON, G-SHOCK, EDIFICE, PRO TREK, and BABY-G—showcasing the company’s enduring commitment to innovation and excellence.

Honoring a Legacy of Innovation

Since introducing the CASIOTRON QW02 in 1974, the world’s first digital watch with an automatic calendar, Casio has been a trailblazer in the timepiece industry. This groundbreaking watch eliminated the need to manually adjust calendars, heralding a new era in watchmaking. The “Zero to One” collection celebrates this legacy, emphasizing Casio’s visionary ethos of “making something from nothing.”

Design Philosophy

The “Zero to One” collection is unified by a striking black-and-gold color scheme, symbolizing the first flicker of light breaking through darkness. Each watch incorporates unique elements such as:

A motif of 0s and 1s, representing the binary beginnings of digital innovation, applied to dials and case backs.

Triangular engravings reminiscent of the original CASIOTRON QW02.

Gold accents on otherwise black bands, engraved with “50th ANNIVERSARY.”

The Five Icons of the Collection

CASIOTRON TRN-50ZE

Paying homage to the original CASIOTRON, this watch integrates standard time radio wave reception, Mobile Link connectivity, and solar charging. Its sleek black band features a single gold link engraved with “50th ANNIVERSARY.”

G-SHOCK GMC-B2100ZE

Based on the durable GMC-B2100 with its signature octagonal bezel, this model combines shock resistance with full-metal construction. Transparent printing of the 0s and 1s motif decorates the outer face, emphasizing its cutting-edge aesthetic.

EDIFICE EFS-S640ZE

Reflecting the Speed and Intelligence concept, this EDIFICE model uses carbon-fiber materials for durability and style. Its Alcantara-made band loop adds sophistication, marked by the commemorative gold engraving.

PRO TREK PRW-6900ZE

Designed for outdoor enthusiasts, this model features bio-based resin components to reduce environmental impact. Its Field Composite Band combines metal inserts with a gold-accented link, making it both sustainable and stylish.

BABY-G BGD-S565ZE

This shock-resistant watch for women introduces Tough Solar charging and bio-based resin, aligning with eco-conscious trends. Its gold IP-treated band rings add a touch of elegance to its minimalist design.

A Commitment to the Future

As Casio celebrates 50 years of groundbreaking achievements, it continues to leverage its expertise in electronics and design to create innovative products. The “Zero to One” collection is more than a commemorative release—it is a tribute to the past and a pledge to shape the future of timekeeping.

Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor Welcomes New Artist in Residence

Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor has welcomed a new artist in residence ahead of the launch of a new exhibition of artworks, as the iconic 93-year-old luxury hotel in Siem Reap, Cambodia continues to spotlight talented Khmer creatives. Teang Borin, popularly known as ‘DinArt’, is an audacious, self-taught artist whose work captures and exalts the essence of Cambodia’s rich religious and societal heritage. His latest exhibition, inspired by the majesty of Khmer royalty and the distinguished colour palette of the Raffles Royal Doorman, features vivid, brilliant hues often set against a stark backdrop. “The central concept revives the historical tradition of Khmer royalty, specifically focussing on the Royal Guards’ pantaloons. Historically, the colour of a king’s attire would change to correspond with the day of the week—a vibrant, visual reminder of the calendar and its spiritual significance,” said curator Nat Di Maggio of the local Tribe Art Gallery. Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor wil...
